Day 5 - Winnipeg
Today we traveled from Treherne to Winnipeg. The day began with a breakfast cooked by the crew in a lttle campground in Trehrne. There was also a road running race going on so many people became aware of SNKCR and the coast to coast foundation. The sun was shinning, the riders felt good as we headed out. We experiienced our fist crash today with Katherine hitting the gravel and into the ditch. Although she fell she is one tough women. Linda the nurse patched her up and insisted she take the remainder of the day off, so she chilled with us.
The original plan was to ride into Winnipeg with a police escort and go right to the Sears store, however due to the Banjo Bowl (Bluebombers vs Roughriders) traffic was insane and the police would not let us travel by bike - there were great in getting us through the traffic with the trucks and the RVs to our location. At the sears store we had had a few presentations and then headed for the showers at th YMCA - lets just say that was an experience (shiver). While at the Y the fire alarn went off and those that were in the shower had to evacuate - with only their towels on.
After the Y we headed for the childrens hospital in Winnipeg to visit an ambassador for SNKCR - Crystal, many of the riders went to visit and talk to her - apparently we caught the eye of security and the “wanna be cops” made sure we fell in line. Crystal is a pretty girl who gets tatooed anytime a freind with cancer dies - as a memory and tribute to that person, thats very cool.
Today was our last day with Ron, Melissa, Taylor. We kid napped Taylor - she was also an ambassador and she was phenominal and funny, and a lttle bit nuts as you will see in the picture of her. Ron also left to take care of some business and to trade off with his replacement
